National Physician Survey: Results by specialty now available

Dear Specialty Societies:

On behalf of the National Physician Survey (NPS) partners we are pleased to share the survey results by specialty. This new data and information will be available as of December 2, 2011 on the NPS website.

The NPS is Canada’s most comprehensive and authoritative survey of physicians, residents and medical students. The data we collect is used by a wide variety of stakeholders including government organizations and researchers to support health policy, guide medical educators, and provide accurate information on our dynamic health care sector.

As with previous surveys the 2010 results provide valuable data about the current priorities and interests of Canada’s doctors – issues such as changing scopes of practice, barriers to care, and use of information technology. This information has been used extensively to help plan for the future, inform policy decisions, and advocate for required changes to our health care system. We invite you to browse the NPS data and use it as a key reference in your work in the months ahead. The 2010 National Physician Survey was implemented cooperatively by the Canadian Medical Association, The College of Family Physicians of Canada, and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with financial support from the Canadian Institute for Health Information.

We would welcome the opportunity to produce a summary of information relevant to your specialty organization to support your related research or communications. Please contact us if you wish to request this service, or if you have any questions about the new NPS data.

If you are not able to find the results for your specialty of interest please contact us and we will be happy to help you find the data you need.

Best regards,

Artem Safarov
